The hardest part is to start. Start your day, start your blog, start your company, start anything you want to do. Many of us have big goals, inspiring goals for our lives. Often times these goals can seem a very long way from where we are presently in our lives. In fact, sometimes they can seem so far away that they appear to be totally out of reach. But once you take the first step and START, everything else just flows, falls into place. I want to write this post about my new company Tres Piñas, share some insights and some personal thoughts.
People often are scared of sharing their “Good Life Story”, most of them share and talk about their problems or what went wrong, due to the potential critics that this may bring. For example, a triathlete - they are most likely to share what went wrong in a race rather than what went right, even if they had a really good result LOL right? It’s ok to be happy, its ok to have a wonderful life, it’s ok to share your positive vibes, its ok to have a voice and speak up, it’s ok to be whoever you want to be. Don’t be scared of the judgments and critics even though they might hurt at first, just remember there will always be people who disagree with you or simply just don’t want to see you happy. Cut them out of your life, let them go. Life is too short to have negative people in your life. :)
"Never judge a book by its cover” is a metaphorical phrase which means "you shouldn't prejudge the worth or value of something by its outward appearance alone”. With that being said, don’t judge someone without knowing the whole story. I am a very open and honest person, I have nothing to hide and nothing to be ashamed of. Yes, the success of my company has a lot to do with my fathers financial and professional help, which I am extremely thankful for. My dad is an incredible, hard working man who would do anything for his family and friends. He has worked his butt off to be where he is at now and I admire him so much for everything he has done for us. He taught me how to be an independent, driven and strong woman. Like my mother, my dad encourages me to be a better person everyday and to always follow my dreams. I am lucky to have the parents I do, without their support none of this would have been possible and I’ll be the first one to admit that. My dad is the person who pushed me the most to pursue this incredible opportunity I had - start my own company. There is no such thing as an easy ride when you start your own company. You have to be super passionate about it. You have to have the drive, the motivation, dedication, desire and the strength to overcome any challenges this journey throws at you. There will always be ups and downs but you have to make it worth it, you have to want it. I’ve questioned myself many times “Should I do this?” “What if I fail?” “What if it gets too hard?” “What if I don’t know how to do something”? and to be honest, it stressed the shit out of me. Part of the reason we give up, is that we put ourselves under so much pressure and we are faced with the fear of failing, fear of rejection. At least that is one of my #1 fears - failing and rejection. I decided to overcome that fear and if I fail then its ok. At least I tried and I gave it my all.
Starting a business can be very intimidating, discouraging to a point that makes you not want to do it anymore. One of the main reasons why I’ve encountered these feelings before is due to all of the competition and critics out there. It’s hard. It’s scary. Specially when you are doing all of this on your own. Yes, its just me. This is a one woman business. But nothing worthwhile in life comes easy, always remember that ;) It wont be an overnight success, you have to put in the work and effort and most importantly, you have to believe in yourself. If you love what you do, then you are headed in the right direction - that is your first step. I am incredibly passionate about Tres Piñas, I love the concept behind it, I love the support I receive from all of you guys and I cant wait to keep working towards this amazing goal of mine.
Tres Piñas started as a hypothetical idea after racing Kona in 2016 and after a couple of months of going back and forth with this idea, I finally made it happen. In August 2017, I put my vision and words into actions and goals. I started Tres Piñas with trucker hats only, but thanks to all of your incredible support, encouragement and feedback, I decided to pursue this dream of mine - creating my own apparel company. In April, I flew to China to attend the 2018 Shanghai Bike Expo in order to find the best suppliers in cycling apparel. After doing so, I started creating unique designs that portray who I am - bold, bright, fun, happy and confident woman. My vision is to create high quality cycling apparel with unique details, designs and bright colors with a perfect fit but at the same time make them affordable for you guys. I know how expensive this sport can get, specially if you are like me - someone who likes to use a different cycling kit each time they go out for a ride (plus the outfit has to be on point💁🏼♀️). Not everybody is going to like what you do and that is OK. The key is to stay true to yourself, focus on what you want and what you love to do, regardless of all the discouraging messages out there. And most importantly don’t let that discourage you, learn how to not take it personally and let it go, move on with your life. Thankfully the positives overshadows any of the negatives and you just have to keep working really hard everyday to make your dreams come true. Don’t let anyone take that away from you.
My mom always told me “ Always reach for the stars” ✨
